Jaffna was not as I expected .
Jaffna was not as I expected . Staying where I did you really needed your own transportation. I tried unsuccessfully to rent a bike ,and was told by Click hire place they were booked out for a few days ,I wondered about this as I hardly saw any other tourists ,and other companies didn’t return calls . Fort was really disappointing compared to Galle ,and they charge admission ! Restaurants recommended by lonely planet good , but Mangos has closed ,the Malaya is very good ,as is Akshatai ,but avoid Green Grass ,it’s horrible ,I couldn’t imagine staying there ! Very different to Colombo and other suburbs, but Jaffna has its own unique vibe. Pretty laid back I would say. The locals are friendly, but communicating with them could be a little challenging unless you spoke Tamil. Plenty of things to see and many different foods to try.

Its a quiet village with less population. Nice for a quiet getaway. Small and cosy town. Food is good and friendly people. Temples are good to visit too. The trip to Nainativu is unsafe. Boats were overloaded and I was afraid of a stampede because of the crowd. Other than that, everything else was a good experience for me.singam - 10Scored 10

Takes two days to travel around all the attractions, first day travel the east from Jaffna town with a rented vehicle which is much cheaper than the other areas. Nagadeepa temple and Nagamma kovil was most attracted places to visit in Jaffana along with Jaffna Fort and Library and Museum. Although the Road to Nagadeepa has to be repaired . The City and Roads are clean and the people are very kind

I loved the local life feel of Jaffna.
I loved the local life feel of Jaffna. People are not dependent on tourists here and it was a good insight into the rhythms of Sri Lankan everyday life. The food is delicious and well spiced. Try the dosa's for dinner and pitthu for brekfast. The beaches along the north coast (KKS, Point Pedro) are not worth the fuss, however we did not have time to see any of the beach life on the islands so you may be rewarded there.RebeccaAustralia

They attempted to resolve some of the issues we had staying in the hotel as best as they could. I think this is one of the few hotels in Jaffna with a pool, and even though the pool was small, it was was maintained quite well. I think it's one of the better hotels in Jaffna, but the price kinda reflects it. The location is near Jaffna town and very convenient. Has a lot of nice restaurants around the hotel.

Karna organized a tuk tuk tour of Jaffna peninsula for me with Sinthu. Sinthu showed me many interesting sights. He also told me about Tamil history and current Jaffna customs. I recommend Gatetrees to anyone.
